O’Brien’s Tower, Cliffs of Moher

At the Cliffs of Moher stands O’Brien’s Tower, overlooking the sea. Although the tower seems like it must be a medieval stronghold, a decaying fort to prevent an onslaught from marauding Vikings, in fact, it was built in 1835 by a descendent of King Brian Boru, to cater to the tourist trade which, even then, flocked to this dramatic location.Cliffs of Moher castle original
