There’s a neighborhood in Göteborg, Sweden, made up of summer cottages (known as ‘fritidshus’ in Swedish, the literal translation of which is “free house,” or vacation house). In front of each small cottage is a charming garden, usually with carefully tended (or artfully ignored) flowers. To me, this little white chair reminds me of days spent under the shade of a broad leafy tree, with a cool drink and a good book to look forward to. Every time I look at this picture now, a fragment of the Seals and Crofts song, “Summer Breeze” drifts through my mind. For those who might have never heard of Seals and Crofts, read more here.
